Sheinina L. Raj was born in the UK and emigrated to Vancouver at the age of five, where she would later graduate from Emily Carr University of Art + Design at Langara College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In 2016 Raj collaborated with Nelly Furtado to create an accompanying sound piece for Raj’s seminal interdisciplinary art experience “Intercultural” that has since toured the world. The piece was exhibited at Miami Art Basel, Frieze New York, and World Art Dubai where she was selected as the winner of the ‘Most Innovative Artist Award’ at the World Art Dubai Awards 2018. Raj’s work is also part of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Ontario, Canada and has been featured at the Miami Design Preservation League Art Deco Museum, the A+D Architecture and Design Museum in Los Angeles, and the National Gallery of Contemporary Arts Fiji. Recently in 2019 Sheinina L. Raj received the Gold Winner award from the Tokyo International Foto Awards at the Shibuya Cultural Center in Tokyo, Japan. Raj has given lectures all throughout the country and her work has been featured in many publications.
